Atoll ring
The reef forms a near-circular rim around the lagoon, giving the map a clean, almost geometric outline set against the open ocean.

Oeno Island Map Poster & Print
Oeno is one of the four Pitcairn Islands, a British Overseas Territory in the southern Pacific, and lies northwest of Pitcairn itself. It is a low coral atoll: a ring of reef with a small wooded islet and a sand cay on its rim, enclosing a shallow lagoon. From above the shape is simple and circular, with a pale line of reef set in deep blue ocean.
The island is uninhabited. Its name comes from an American whaling ship, the Oeno, whose crew sighted it in the early nineteenth century. The surrounding reef has claimed several vessels over the years, and the atoll remains difficult to approach by sea.
For the small community on Pitcairn, Oeno has traditionally been a place for occasional holiday trips, when islanders sail across to spend time on its beaches and in its lagoon. An Oeno Island map poster reduces this to its essential form: a ring of coral and a lagoon in the open Pacific, a quiet and graphic image.

Central lagoon
A shallow lagoon fills the space inside the reef, drawn as a lighter area of water with the small islet sitting on its edge.
Named after a whaler
The atoll takes its name from the American whaling ship Oeno, whose crew sighted it in the early nineteenth century.

Oeno is a map for Pitcairn families, collectors of remote islands and anyone fascinated by atolls. Its round, simple form is striking on its own and works well in a square or portrait frame.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, and you can choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the lagoon and surrounding ocean particularly well.
