Oyan is a town in Osun State in southwestern Nigeria, in the Yoruba heartland. From above, it has the organic layout common to towns in the region. Roads leave a central area in several directions, and houses and compounds fill the land between them in an irregular, closely packed pattern.
The town sits in a green, gently rolling landscape of farms and woodland. Its growth has followed the roads that link it to neighbouring towns, so the outline reaches outward along those routes rather than forming a neat circle.
