Retreat-era grid
The original camp layout left narrow, tightly packed lots and straight streets, a fine-textured grid unlike most California towns.

Pacific Grove Map Poster & Print
Pacific Grove sits at the northern tip of the Monterey Peninsula in California, next to Monterey. It began in 1875 as a Methodist retreat, and the tent lots of that camp became the unusually small, regular parcels of the old town. Many Victorian cottages survive on them today.
On a map, the town is a neat grid bordered almost everywhere by water. The shoreline is rocky and irregular, with coves such as Lovers Point along the bay and open Pacific coast to the west. At the point stands the Point Pinos Lighthouse, the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the West Coast.
Pacific Grove is also known as Butterfly Town, USA, because monarch butterflies overwinter in its groves of trees. A Pacific Grove map poster brings together the fine street grid, the golf links and the jagged coast in one crisp frame.

Point Pinos
The peninsula's tip, home to the historic lighthouse, is where the bay shoreline turns toward the open Pacific.
Rocky shoreline
Coves, points and tide-pool rocks give the coast a detailed, irregular edge that frames the town on two sides.

Pacific Grove is a place people fall for on a coastal drive, a wedding weekend or a stay at Asilomar, and some decide to stay for good. The map holds the whole town and its coastline.
