Paikeqi Map Poster & Print
Paikeqi lies on the southwestern rim of the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang, in the oasis belt that follows the rivers coming down from the Karakoram and Kunlun ranges. From above, the settlement and its farmland form a green island in dry country, with the Taklamakan Desert further to the east.
Oasis landscapes here have a very particular structure. Straight roads lined with poplars divide the land into long, narrow fields, and irrigation channels run alongside them. Villages string out along these lines rather than bunching into a single centre, and on a map the effect is a fine, rectilinear mesh that extends far beyond the town itself.
A Paikeqi map poster captures that pattern in pure line work. The regular farm roads, the denser cluster of streets at the centre and the emptiness beyond the irrigated land make a composition that looks almost like a woven textile, shaped by water and by centuries of oasis farming.

Irrigation lines
Water channels drawn from mountain-fed rivers run beside roads and fields, the structure that makes farming in this dry basin possible.
Desert margin
Where irrigation ends, the road network stops abruptly, and a wider view shows the clear boundary between cultivated land and dry basin.
