Pāthardi is a town in Maharashtra's Ahilyanagar district, formerly known as Ahmednagar district, and the headquarters of its taluka. It lies on the Deccan plateau in a semi-arid landscape of fields, low hills and seasonal streams. On a map, the town appears as a tight knot of streets surrounded by open farmland.
The older centre is dense and irregular, with narrow lanes, closely packed houses and a market area where the roads converge. Newer neighbourhoods spread along the main roads out of town in more regular plots. It is the pattern of a typical Maharashtra market town that has grown steadily outward from its core.
