Compact street grid
The town centre follows a mostly regular layout of rectangular blocks, forming a tidy, dense shape that contrasts with the empty country around it.

Paulistana Map Poster & Print
Paulistana is a municipality in the southern part of Piauí, in Brazil's semi-arid interior near the border with Pernambuco. The landscape around it is caatinga, the dry scrub forest of the Northeast. Rain is scarce, and settlements are spaced far apart.
The town itself is compact. A fairly regular grid of streets gathers around a central area, and the blocks thin out quickly at the edges into open land. Highways and rural roads lead away across the plateau towards farms and neighbouring towns, and those long lines give the map its sense of distance.
A Paulistana map poster suits that openness. The street grid appears as a small, well-defined figure in the middle of the page, with the roads extending outward and a lot of white space around them standing in for the sertão.

Roads across the sertão
Long, straight roads run away from the town across the semi-arid plateau, linking it to farms and to other towns in the region.
Open caatinga
Beyond the last streets the land is dry scrub. On the map it becomes broad white space, which makes the town appear small and self-contained.

For people from Paulistana who now live in Teresina, Recife or São Paulo, a map of the town is a quiet reminder of where they started. The plain layout carries more than its size suggests.
You can write your own title and subtitle, add a date and edit the coordinates line. Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand each give the grid a different mood.
