Caspian shoreline
The sea forms a long, gently curving edge along the north of the town. On the print it is one clean line that sets the orientation of the whole map.

Rāmsar Map Poster
Rāmsar sits on the Caspian coast in Māzandarān province, where the Alborz mountains come unusually close to the sea. That geography shapes the whole map. The town is a long, narrow strip between shoreline and slope, with the coast road running east to west through it, and short streets climbing a little way inland before the forest takes over.
The town is known worldwide for the Ramsar Convention, the international treaty on wetlands signed here in 1971. It is also known for hot springs whose natural radioactivity is among the highest recorded anywhere, and for its early twentieth-century palace and grand hotel, built when Rāmsar became a fashionable resort.
A Rāmsar map poster captures an elongated, directional town. The straight coastline on one side and the dense green mountainside on the other frame a thin band of streets, which makes for a composition unlike anything found in the plains of the interior.

Coast road ribbon
The main road runs parallel to the shore and carries most of the town's activity, so the settlement reads as a long, narrow ribbon.
Mountain edge
To the south the streets stop where the forested Alborz foothills rise. The abrupt edge gives the town its distinctive narrow shape.

Rāmsar is a place of holidays and family summers for many Iranians, and a name recognised by conservationists everywhere. A map of this sea-and-mountain strip makes a considered gift for either kind of connection.
Personalise it with a title, a subtitle and the coordinates, for instance the year of a family trip, and pick Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital files cost $9 and include PNG and PDF versions for six print sizes.
