Riberalta Map Poster & Print
Riberalta lies in the far north of Bolivia, in the Beni department, close to where the Madre de Dios flows into the Beni River. On the map, the town sits on a bank above wide, winding water, and dense lowland forest surrounds it. The street grid is regular and generous, with the river curving along one side.
The town is the centre of Bolivia's Brazil nut industry, and processing plants for nuts gathered in the surrounding forest are an important part of local life. Streets are broad and often unpaved, and roads and rivers link the town with Guayaramerín and the Brazilian border.
A Riberalta map poster shows the Amazon lowlands in simple lines. There is a square grid, the sweeping loops of two large rivers with oxbow lakes on the floodplain, and forest broken only by a few roads. It is an uncommon subject, and a striking one.

Oxbows and floodplain
Old river bends have left crescent-shaped lakes across the low ground, clear curved shapes against the forest.
Brazil nut capital
Riberalta is Bolivia's main centre for processing Brazil nuts collected in the surrounding Amazon forest.
