Sa‘ādat Shahr is the administrative centre of Pasargad County in Fars province, southern Iran. From above, it sits on a broad upland plain with mountains on the horizon. The town has a clear structure: main roads cross the centre, and the neighbourhoods around them follow a mostly regular pattern. Beyond them, cultivated fields come right up to the urban edge.
The county takes its name from Pasargadae, the first capital of the Achaemenid Empire and the site of the tomb of Cyrus the Great, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
