Lungomare promenade
A tree-lined seafront promenade runs straight along the water, separating the city from the gulf. It is one of the cleanest lines on the map.

Salerno Map Poster & Print
Salerno stretches along the curve of the Gulf of Salerno, at the eastern end of the Amalfi Coast. On the map, it looks like a narrow band between the sea and the steep hills. The medieval centre is a knot of lanes at the western end. A long waterfront promenade runs straight along the shore, and newer districts extend eastwards over flatter ground.
Salerno's medical school, the Schola Medica Salernitana, was one of the earliest in medieval Europe. The cathedral holds the relics of Saint Matthew. In September 1943, Allied forces landed on the beaches of the gulf. Above the city, the Arechi Castle watches over the coast from a ridge, reached by winding roads that stand out on the map.
A Salerno map poster pairs dense old-town lanes with the clean line of the seafront. Hairpin roads climb into the hills above, while the harbour breakwaters make sharp geometric shapes in the water. The whole city is set between mountains and sea, so it fits naturally in a portrait format and gives a clear sense of place.

Medieval centre
At the western end, the old town is a close network of narrow lanes and small squares around the cathedral, in contrast with the modern streets to the east.
Castle hill roads
Switchback roads climb the slopes towards the Arechi Castle. Their loops show how steeply the land rises behind the coast.
