São Caitano Map Poster & Print
São Caitano is a town in the Agreste region of Pernambuco, in northeastern Brazil, the transitional zone between the humid coast and the dry sertão further inland. It lies west of Caruaru, the largest city of the Agreste. The town has a compact centre of blocks, with streets spreading outward over uneven ground and roads leaving for nearby communities and rural areas.
The surrounding landscape is semi-arid, with low hills, scrub vegetation and small farms. Water is scarce for much of the year, and reservoirs and seasonal streams are important features of the countryside. The Agreste is known for strong cultural traditions, including the São João festivities in June, celebrated across the region and especially in nearby Caruaru.
A São Caitano map poster keeps the modest character of the town. The grid of the centre, the roads branching into the countryside and the fine lines of seasonal watercourses form a spare, balanced design. It is a quiet image of an interior Pernambuco town, one that will mean the most to the people who know it well.

Roads into the Agreste
Roads lead out from the town across the rolling countryside, connecting it with neighbouring municipalities and drawing long lines through the frame.
Reservoirs and streams
Small reservoirs and seasonal streams appear around the town, subtle but important shapes in a landscape where water is carefully valued.

Many people from the interior of Pernambuco have moved to Recife, São Paulo or other cities, and a map of the home town makes a sincere gift or a personal piece for their own walls. The clean design gives a small place the same attention as a capital.
