Sarai Alamgir stands on the east bank of the Jhelum River in Gujrat district, directly across from the city of Jhelum. From above, the wide river and its sandy channels dominate one side of the map, while the town fills the land between the water, canals and main roads.
The Grand Trunk Road runs through the area, and the Upper Jhelum Canal cuts a firm, straight line nearby. A Sarai Alamgir map poster sets these engineered lines against the loose, braided shape of the river and the dense, irregular streets of the older town.
