Sarreguemines Map Poster & Print
Sarreguemines is in the Moselle department at the confluence of the Saar and the Blies, right on the border with Germany. The Blies flows in from the German side and joins the Saar, and below the town the Saar itself becomes the frontier. From above, the old centre fills the land near where the rivers meet, and bridges carry roads across to the German bank.
The town is best known for its faience. From the late eighteenth century its potteries made tableware and decorative ceramics that sold across Europe. The industry left its mark in former factory sites and in museums devoted to the craft. On a Sarreguemines map poster these old industrial plots appear as larger blocks among the finer residential streets.
Water shapes the map in more than one way. The canalised Saar carries a navigation route, and a canal leaves the town heading south toward the Marne–Rhine Canal. Its straight, engineered lines run beside the natural river curves. A tram-train line also crosses the border and links the town with Saarbrücken, so a rail corridor adds one more long line to the composition.

Canal lines
Straight canal sections and locks run beside the winding Saar. The contrast between engineered and natural waterways reads well in the thin lines of a minimalist print.
Faience heritage sites
Former pottery works and the museums devoted to Sarreguemines faience sit within the town. Their larger footprints recall the industry that made the town's name across Europe.

A border town calls for a map that shows both banks, and the confluence gives the composition a natural centre. Put the town name, a family name or a line in French or German in the title, add a date, and the print belongs to your household alone.
Blueprint suits the canals and locks, and Classic black and white keeps the river shapes crisp. Noir, Paper and Sand are the other options. The HD download is $9 and includes six sizes at 300 DPI plus print-ready PDFs. Printed posters on matte paper come with or without a wooden frame.
