Seondha lies in Datia district in the north of Madhya Pradesh, on the banks of the Sindh River. The river is the clearest feature on the map. It is a broad, winding channel with rocky stretches, and the town sits close above it in a compact grid of old lanes and small squares.
The town has a long association with its riverfront. Temples and bathing ghats line the water, and the riverside draws visitors during religious festivals. Beyond the built-up area, the landscape flattens out into the farmland of the Bundelkhand borderlands, crossed by rural roads.
