Compact centre
The government and commercial core forms a small, denser cluster of streets, around which neighbourhoods spread out in a looser, organic pattern.

Serang Map Poster & Print
Serang is the capital of Banten province, at the western end of Java. The city lies on a flat, largely agricultural plain a short distance inland from the Java Sea, with the toll road linking Jakarta to the port of Merak passing close by. On a map it appears as a compact centre surrounded by kampung neighbourhoods, rice fields and roads spreading out in several directions.
North of the modern city lies Banten Lama, the site of the old Sultanate of Banten, an important pepper-trading port in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The Great Mosque of Banten and the remains of palace walls and fortifications still stand there, close to the coast, holding a past that the modern street plan only partly reveals.
A Serang map poster frames the provincial capital together with its surrounding ground: the denser centre, the looser settlements and the lines of road and river leading toward the coast. It is a fitting piece for people from Banten, for those with family in the region, and for anyone who studied or worked here.

Road to Merak
The toll road between Jakarta and Merak passes near the city, a long, smooth line that contrasts with the finer grain of the local streets.
Toward Banten Lama
To the north, the land runs toward the coast and the historic sultanate site, where the old mosque and ruins sit close to the sea.

Serang is often passed through on the way to the Sunda Strait, but for those who live here it is the centre of a province. A map poster gives it a place of its own on the wall, independent of the bigger cities nearby.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a neighbourhood, a date or a dedication. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 files arrive without a watermark, in six print sizes as PNG and PDF.
