Shulin Map Poster & Print
Shulin is a district on the south-western side of New Taipei, between Banqiao and the border with Taoyuan. On the map it splits into two halves. The flat northern part is densely built, with streets forming a close mesh of blocks and alleys. In the southern part the terrain lifts into forested hills, and roads become few and far between.
Rail and expressway lines cross the district, and Shulin station on the western trunk railway anchors the older commercial centre. The Dahan River runs along the district's edge, and its embankments and riverside parks give the urban half a clear boundary and a long, gentle curve that reads well from above.
Long a farming town on the edge of the Taipei basin, Shulin has become a residential and industrial part of the metropolitan area while keeping pockets of older streets.
