Sitampiky Map Poster & Print
Sitampiky is a rural commune in the Boeny region of north-western Madagascar, the lowland country that drains toward the Mozambique Channel around Mahajanga. It is a small place, and its map is dominated less by streets than by the land around them: wide open ground, scattered villages and the tracks that link them to the wider district.
Western Madagascar is lower, drier and more open than the central highlands, with grassland and seasonal waterways shaping the terrain. From above, this translates into a spare composition: a few main roads crossing large blank areas, small concentrations of buildings, and meandering water lines that thicken and thin as they cross the plain.
A Sitampiky map poster is a quiet, minimal print. With little dense development, each line on the paper matters, and the layout reads almost like a diagram of how a rural community sits in its landscape. For people from the area, that simplicity is exactly what makes it recognisable.

Seasonal waterways
Streams and rivers wind across the plain, and in black and white they become the most expressive lines on the map, curving freely where roads run straight.
Open plains
Large areas without mapped streets surround the village, giving the print generous negative space and a calm, uncluttered balance on the wall.
