Stralsund Map Poster & Print
Stralsund lies on the Strelasund, the narrow strait that separates the German mainland from the island of Rügen. Its old town is almost an island in its own right. To the east it faces the sea, and on the landward side it is enclosed by large ponds that were created in the Middle Ages as part of the town's defences. On a map the historic core stands out as a clear, rounded shape, surrounded by water.
Together with Wismar, the old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognised for its brick Gothic churches and merchant houses from the Hanseatic period. The harbour is home to the Ozeaneum, a large marine museum. To the south-east, the long Rügen Bridge and the older causeway cross the strait towards the island, a line that stretches across the water.
A Stralsund map poster brings all of this together in one frame. The medieval streets form a tight network inside the water ring, the harbour basins cut sharp shapes into the shoreline, and the newer districts spread across the mainland behind them. Water frames the old town on nearly every side, so the city reads as a very distinct shape, and it prints beautifully at every size.

Harbour basins
Quays and harbour basins line the eastern edge of the old town. Their straight edges contrast with the natural curve of the strait.
Crossings to Rügen
The Rügen Bridge and the older causeway reach across the water via the small island of Dänholm. They draw long lines through the map.

Stralsund is a city people remember, whether they studied here, sailed from the harbour or passed through on the way to Rügen. The water-bound old town makes a strong, instantly recognisable image for a hallway, study or holiday home.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a date or the name of a boat. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the city's maritime character.
