Suiling is the seat of a county in Suihua, in the heart of Heilongjiang. The land here is part of northeast China's great agricultural belt, known for its fertile black soil. From above, the town is a small, orderly grid of streets, and everything around it is dominated by the huge rectangles of cultivated land.
