Neamț Citadel
The fortress stands on a ridge above the western edge of town. On the map its winding approach road climbs out of the street grid into the forest.

Târgu Neamţ Map Poster & Print
Târgu Neamț is in northeastern Romania, where the Moldavian lowlands meet the first ridges of the Eastern Carpathians. From above, the town spreads along the Ozana river (also called the Neamț). Its streets run along the valley and climb gradually up the slopes on either side.
The main landmark is the Neamț Citadel, a medieval fortress on a wooded hill just west of the centre. It was strengthened under Stephen the Great in the fifteenth century. On the map its access road winds up from the town. The district of Humulești, the childhood home of the writer Ion Creangă, is on the other side of the river.
A Târgu Neamț map poster shows a town tied to both the river and the hills. The centre is compact, residential streets stretch along the valley, and the forest begins almost where the last houses end. The monasteries of Neamț, Agapia and Văratec are in the surrounding hills and give the area its reputation.

Ozana river
The river runs through the valley with the town along its banks. It separates the centre from Humulești and gives the print its main curve.
Humulești
Across the river is the old village where Ion Creangă grew up, now part of the town. Its streets are quieter and more rural than the centre's.
