Ţarţūs Map Poster & Print
Ţarţūs lies on the Syrian coast of the Mediterranean, on a strip of plain between the sea and the coastal mountains. The city faces west over the water. A long corniche follows the shore, port basins and breakwaters occupy a broad stretch of the waterfront, and the grid of newer districts extends inland across flat ground toward the hills.
The historic core was the Crusader town of Tortosa, and parts of its Templar fortifications survive around the old quarter by the sea, with houses built into the walls. The twelfth-century Cathedral of Our Lady of Tortosa, now a museum, stands nearby. A few kilometres offshore sits Arwad, Syria's only inhabited island, a small and densely built ancient town.
A Ţarţūs map poster sets the city against open sea, with the tight, irregular old quarter by the water and the regular modern blocks behind it. Depending on the frame, the compact outline of Arwad floats to the west, completing a composition that is half city and half Mediterranean.

Arwad Island
A small island a short boat ride away, almost entirely covered by its old town, visible offshore as a solid, rounded shape.

Ţarţūs means summers by the sea for many Syrian families, and home for many more. A map preserves its shoreline, old walls and island in a form that is calm and personal, well suited to a bright room.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint gives the coastline a crisp, nautical feel. The digital files include six print sizes.
