Trossingen sits on the high, open Baar plateau in Baden-Württemberg, with the Black Forest to the west and the Swabian Jura to the east. The town is known worldwide as the home of Hohner, the harmonica and accordion maker, and it has its own university of music. Its name is also linked to the Plateosaurus fossils excavated nearby.
