Tubod is the capital of Lanao del Norte on the island of Mindanao. It lies on the coast of Iligan Bay, and the shoreline is the defining feature of its map. The town's streets run close to the water. Behind them, the land rises into hills covered with farms and forest.
The provincial government centre gives the town an administrative role larger than its size would suggest. The coastal highway follows the shore and links Tubod to Iligan City and other towns along the bay. Away from the highway, the settlement quickly becomes more scattered, with barangays spread along smaller roads.
