Winding road network
Roads and lanes curve along the ridges and valleys, forming a loose, organic web across the landscape rather than a regular grid.

Urakam Map Poster & Print
Urakam lies in the Malappuram district of northern Kerala, in the rolling midland country between the coast and the Western Ghats. The landscape here is hilly, with laterite ridges, coconut and areca groves and small paddy fields in the valleys. Settlements are spread out rather than clustered into dense towns.
From above, Urakam looks like much of rural Kerala: a web of winding roads and lanes following the ridges and valleys, lined with houses set in their own gardens. There is no single dense core; instead, small junctions with shops and mosques act as local centres along the main roads.
A Urakam map poster reflects this dispersed pattern. The roads form a flowing, organic network across the frame, and the lack of a rigid grid gives the print a soft, almost hand-drawn quality that differs from most urban maps.

Dispersed settlement
Houses are spread along the roads in their own plots, so the map shows a scattered texture instead of a dense town centre.
Midland hills
The rolling laterite hills shape the whole pattern of the map, with roads bending around slopes and valleys between them.
