Varese Map Poster & Print
Varese lies in northern Lombardy, close to the Swiss border, on a patchwork of low hills that rise toward the Campo dei Fiori massif. The city never developed a single dense grid. Instead its districts, once separate villages, spread along ridges and valleys joined by curving roads. On a map that gives it an open, branching texture, with green pockets between clusters of streets.
To the west lies Lake Varese, a smooth oval of water edged by reeds and small settlements, and beyond it the larger Lago Maggiore. North of the centre, the pilgrimage route of the Sacro Monte climbs a mountainside past a sequence of chapels to the hilltop village of Santa Maria del Monte, part of a UNESCO World Heritage listing of sacred mountains in Piedmont and Lombardy.
Varese is often called the garden city, a name earned by the villas and formal parks built by Milanese families, and by the Estense gardens behind the town hall, laid out in the eighteenth century. A Varese map poster shows these green rectangles and winding avenues together, a calm portrait of a city that grew by spreading out rather than up.

Sacro Monte road
A thin line climbs north from the suburbs, switching back up the slope toward the hilltop sanctuary, one of the most distinctive linear features on the map.
Estense gardens
Behind the town hall, the formal gardens of the Palazzo Estense form a precise geometric block of paths and lawns, contrasting with the looser street pattern around them.

Varese suits people who know it as a place of lakes, hills and long walks, whether they grew up here or crossed it on the way to the Alps. The mix of water and scattered streets reads especially well in the Paper and Sand styles, which soften the lines into something warm and quiet.
Choose any of the five styles and add your own title, subtitle or coordinates, perhaps a family name or the date of a move. A free 900 px preview lets you check the framing first, and the $9 digital pack includes six sizes, from A3 to 24×36″.
