Veys lies on the broad lowland of Khuzestan, northwest of Ahvaz, not far from the Karun, Iran's largest river by volume. The map is shaped by flatness. There are no hills to bend the streets, so the town spreads out evenly, and the surrounding countryside is divided into fields by roads and irrigation channels.
The built-up area is compact, with a mix of straighter planned streets and older, more irregular lanes. Main roads connect it to Ahvaz and the other towns of the region. Beyond the edge of town, agricultural plots dominate, laid out in geometric blocks that depend on water drawn from the river system.
