Xili lies in the Nanshan district of Shenzhen, north of the dense coastal strip, where the city meets greener, hillier ground. The map is a mix of large-scale features. There is the reservoir of Xili Lake, the forested slopes around it, big campus plots and wide urban roads, with denser residential blocks and older village streets packed in between.
