Town centre
Streets and family compounds form an irregular, closely built core. It is drawn as a fine mesh of lines that thins out quickly toward the edges of the town.

Yorosso Map Poster & Print
Yorosso lies in the Sikasso region of southern Mali, near the border with Burkina Faso. The land here is savanna, greener and wetter than the Sahel further north, with scattered trees, cultivated fields and seasonal streams. On a map the town is a modest cluster of streets and compounds. Dirt roads lead out to neighbouring villages across a largely flat landscape.
Yorosso is the administrative centre of its district, and farming dominates the local economy. The Sikasso region is one of Mali's main agricultural areas and grows much of the country's cotton, along with millet, sorghum and maize. Farming decides what appears on a wider map: long tracks, small settlements and thin streams, with no dense urban grid.
A Yorosso map poster offers a spare, uncluttered composition, with the town at the centre and roads fanning out across the countryside. For people from the area now living in Bamako, Sikasso or abroad, it is a plain and honest picture of home, drawn at a scale where every street is visible.

Roads to villages
Tracks and roads leave the town in several directions, linking Yorosso with the villages of its district and giving the map a radiating structure.
Savanna farmland
Open fields and seasonal watercourses fill the land around the town. Large areas of the poster stay light and uncluttered around the settlement.

Yorosso is hung by people who grew up there, by families from the district now living in larger cities, and by those who have worked in the region. A map of the town keeps its layout, its roads and its place in the Malian countryside close at hand.
