Zarumilla Map Poster & Print
Zarumilla is in Tumbes, Peru's northernmost region, just a few kilometres from the border with Ecuador. The land here is low and flat, and the map shows a regular street grid spread across it. The Zarumilla River nearby forms part of the international boundary, and the main highway runs north through the area toward the crossing at Aguas Verdes.
The town gave its name to the brief 1941 conflict between Peru and Ecuador, often called the Zarumilla War. Toward the coast, the Tumbes mangroves, protected as a national sanctuary, cover a large area of channels and estuaries. Inland, the land is farmed, with rice fields and irrigation channels leaving their own geometric marks.
A Zarumilla map poster pairs a tidy grid with the looser forms of the river and the lowlands around it. The straight highway and the right-angled blocks make a strong centre, and the winding river adds an irregular line along one side. It is a map of a frontier, clearly drawn and easy to read.
