Medieval ramparts
A long stretch of the old town wall survives with its towers, tracing a clear, almost closed outline around the historic centre on the map.

Binche Map Poster & Print
Binche is a small town in the Hainaut province of Wallonia, best known for its carnival. From above, its most striking feature is the ring of medieval ramparts that still encloses much of the historic centre. The ring is one of the most complete surviving town walls in Belgium, and along it the round towers show on the map as small bumps in the outline.
Inside the walls, the streets bend and narrow the way medieval streets do, all drawn towards the Grand-Place and its town hall. Outside the ring, the town spreads more loosely into later housing, rail lines and the fields of Hainaut, so the map shows a clear line between old and new. The contrast between the tight, enclosed core and the open land beyond gives Binche its character on paper.
The carnival of Binche, with its Gilles in wax masks and ostrich-feather hats, is recognised by UNESCO as part of the intangible heritage of humanity, and the town also has a museum devoted to masks and carnival. A Binche map poster keeps that heritage in the background and brings the place's physical form to the front: the fortified oval that has held the town together for centuries.

Grand-Place
The main square sits inside the walls and pulls the surrounding streets towards it, the natural focal point of the old town's layout.
Old town and new
Beyond the ramparts, newer streets and railway lines spread out more loosely, making the fortified core stand out even more sharply.

དོན་དག་ཡོད་པའི་ས་ཁྲ།
Binche means a great deal to the people who march in its carnival every year and to those who have watched the Gilles in the square. A map framed around the ramparts keeps the town's shape close, wherever you live now.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a carnival year or a family name, and edit the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper gives the walled centre an old-atlas feel.
