Brest Map Poster & Print
Brest lies in the far southwest of Belarus, on the border with Poland, where the Mukhavets River flows into the Western Bug. On the map, the modern city spreads east of the confluence in a fairly regular grid of wide streets. The western edge is taken up by the islands and earthworks of the Brest Fortress, surrounded by water channels.
The fortress was built in the nineteenth century, and the city was moved to make room for it. In June 1941 its defenders held out for weeks against the German invasion, and it is now a large memorial complex. Brest is also known for the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, signed here in 1918.
A Brest map poster places those two parts side by side: the ordered streets of the modern city and the complex geometry of the fortress, with its moats, islands and ramparts. The rivers bind them together. It is also one of the gateways between Belarus and the rest of Europe.

River confluence
The Mukhavets flows into the Western Bug near the fortress. The rivers frame the city on its western side and mark the border with Poland.
Planned city grid
East of the fortress the streets run in a fairly regular pattern of broad avenues and rectangular blocks. This is the core of the modern city.

དོན་དག་ཡོད་པའི་ས་ཁྲ།
For people from Brest, the map is a personal record of their home streets. For others it carries history, from the defence of the fortress to generations of travellers crossing the border here. It suits a study as well as a living room.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with the name of a family street or a memorable year. Then choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint brings out the fortress geometry especially well.
