Caicó Map Poster & Print
Caicó is the main town of the Seridó region in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte, in Brazil's semi-arid sertão. On a map the town is a fairly regular grid on low, open ground beside the Seridó River, which is often dry for much of the year. Just outside town, the large Itans reservoir makes a broad, irregular body of water.
The centre is laid out around its church squares, with straight streets extending outward in a checkerboard. Caicó is well known in the Northeast for its July Festa de Sant'Ana, one of the region's biggest religious festivals, and for Seridó's food traditions, including carne de sol and local cheeses.
A Caicó map poster shows how a sertão town organises itself: a neat grid, a river bed along one side, a reservoir that holds water through the dry months, and roads heading out across the caatinga. In a minimalist style the simple geometry and the shape of the water make a clear composition.

Seridó river bed
The river runs past the town and appears as a winding line on the map, even in seasons when its channel carries little water.
Itans reservoir
A large reservoir near town forms a wide, branching lake, a vital water source in the semi-arid region and a strong shape in the frame.
