Grand Trunk Road
The historic highway crosses the town as its strongest line. This route has carried traffic across northern India for centuries and determined where the town grew.

Gorāya Map Poster & Print
Gorāya is a town in Jalandhar district, in the Doaba region of Punjab, the fertile land between the Beas and Sutlej rivers. The ground is almost perfectly flat, so on a map nothing interrupts the lines of roads and field boundaries. The town's shape comes from the routes that pass through it.
The most important of these is the Grand Trunk Road, the historic highway that has linked the east and west of the subcontinent for centuries. Here it runs between Phagwara and Phillaur, and the town's main streets gather along it. The railway between Ludhiana and Jalandhar runs close by on a parallel course.
Away from the highway, the lanes become narrower and less regular, and the built-up area fades into farmland crossed by small roads and tracks. A Gorāya map poster shows this simple structure clearly: one strong main axis, a dense center and open plains in every direction.

Parallel railway
The Ludhiana–Jalandhar railway runs close to the highway. It adds a second long line that gives the composition extra structure and a sense of movement.
Doaba farmland
Flat fields divided by farm roads spread out on every side of the town. On the poster they form a light, even texture that frames the denser center.

Many families from the Doaba now live abroad, and a map of the home town keeps its streets on the wall in Canada, Britain or anywhere else. The strong central axis makes the design easy to read from across a room.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line are editable. You can write the name the way your family spells it and add a village, a surname or a date beneath. Choose from five styles, then download the HD files or order a matte print, framed or unframed.
