This Haikou is not the capital of Hainan Island but a town in Yunnan Province, within the Kunming area near the southwestern end of Dian Lake. Its name means "sea mouth", and it fits: the town lies near the place where the lake's outflow leaves and begins its course toward the Jinsha River.
