Iryango is in Uganda's Western Region, in the hilly south-west of the country. The land here is folded into ridges and valleys, and the map follows that shape. Roads keep to ridge lines or wind along the lower ground, so few of them are straight, and homes cluster wherever the slope allows.
This part of Uganda is known for its green, cultivated hills, where bananas and mixed smallholdings cover much of the land and cattle graze on the open slopes. On a map there is no dense grid. Instead you see a network of paths and minor roads spread over the hills, connecting farms, trading centres and neighbouring villages.

Winding lanes
Minor roads bend constantly to fit the slopes. Their curves give the poster a flowing, almost hand-drawn feel that is typical of the south-western hills.
Farm-filled valleys
Between the ridges, lower ground is mostly farmed. It appears on the map as open space broken by tracks, which contrasts with the clusters of homes along the roads.
