Kabnur is a town in Kolhapur district in southern Maharashtra, lying immediately next to Ichalkaranji, and the two have grown together into one continuous urban area. On the map it is hard to tell where one ends and the other begins: streets run straight across the boundary, and the built-up area forms a dense block surrounded by farmland.
The area is one of India's best-known centres of powerloom weaving, and Ichalkaranji is often called the Manchester of Maharashtra.
