Maraimalainagar Map Poster & Print
Maraimalainagar lies in Chengalpattu district, south-west of Chennai, along the Grand Southern Trunk Road. It was developed as a planned township and is named after the Tamil scholar Maraimalai Adigal. From above, the highway and the suburban railway run side by side through the town, and residential layouts and industrial estates sit on either side.
The area became one of the anchors of Chennai's automotive corridor. Large factory sites appear on the map as big rectangles with few internal streets, next to the neater grids of the planned housing. Low hills and waterbodies typical of the Chengalpattu countryside are scattered around the edges.
A Maraimalainagar map poster suits people who worked in the plants along GST Road, families who settled in the township, and commuters who know its station on the Chennai suburban line. It shows an industrial town honestly, with its rail line, its highway and its orderly housing blocks.
