Marakkanam Map Poster & Print
Marakkanam lies on the Coromandel Coast of Tamil Nadu, north of Puducherry, where a narrow strip of land separates the Bay of Bengal from backwaters and lagoons. The town is known for salt production. Wide areas of salt pans spread across the flat ground near the coast, forming one of the most distinctive patterns in the region.
From above, the salt pans look like a mosaic of rectangles separated by thin embankments, quite unlike the streets of the town next to them. The town has a compact centre, with roads leading along the coast and inland. The straight line of the shore marks the eastern edge.
A Marakkanam map poster sets the grid of the salt pans against the curves of the backwater and the long coastline. Printed in black and white, it becomes an unusual and graphic image of a place where land, sea and work meet.

Backwater and lagoon
Brackish water lies between the coast and inland areas, adding irregular shapes that soften the straight lines of the salt pans.
Bay of Bengal shore
The coastline runs in a long, clean line along the eastern side, giving the composition a clear edge facing the sea.
