Streets on the slopes
Roads curve around the hills instead of running straight. On the poster, the town's lines read almost like contour lines.

Mekla Map Poster & Print
Mekla is in Tizi Ouzou province in Kabylie, in northern Algeria, in the hilly country around the Sebaou valley. The terrain sets the shape of the town. Streets follow slopes and ridgelines instead of a grid, so the map has flowing, contour-like lines that are typical of the region.
Below the town, the valley floor opens out into flatter land, and the roads find easier routes there. Up on the slopes, settlement becomes more scattered, with villages and hamlets linked by winding roads. This contrast between valley and hillside is what the map shows most clearly.
A Mekla map poster shows how a Kabyle town is fitted onto uneven ground. The bent streets and branching roads to the hill villages make an organic linework that feels drawn by hand. It suits people from Kabylie and anyone who likes maps where the land's contours can be read through the roads.

The Sebaou valley
The valley floor below offers flatter ground and easier routes. On the map, the lower land contrasts with the winding slopes above.
Hill village roads
Narrow roads lead out to nearby villages on the ridges. They branch across the map and link the town to the wider hill country.
