Myenigon is a neighbourhood in Yangon, west of the Shwedagon Pagoda hill, known mostly by the name of its road junction. From above it looks like a typical inner-city part of Yangon: narrow, closely spaced blocks and lanes packed between a few wide roads that carry traffic north and south through the city.
The area is residential and commercial at the same time, with markets, shophouses and apartment buildings along the main roads and smaller lanes behind them. The Hlaing River lies a short distance to the west, and the city's green spaces and lakes are to the north and east, so Myenigon sits among many of Yangon's best-known features.

Dense lanes
Between the arterial roads, small lanes and short blocks create a tight, detailed pattern, typical of the older inner neighbourhoods of Yangon.
Toward the river
West of the neighbourhood the streets run toward the Hlaing River. Where the river enters the frame, the dense grid gives way to open water.
