Boulevard ring
The boulevards around the historic centre form a closed loop along the line of the old town walls. This gives the centre a clear, rounded boundary on the map.

Nivelles Map Poster & Print
Nivelles, in Walloon Brabant south of Brussels, grew around an abbey founded in the seventh century by Itta and her daughter Gertrude. The town plan still reflects that origin. A ring of boulevards encloses the historic centre, and inside it the streets converge on the large block of the collegiate church and the Grand-Place beside it. Beyond the ring, residential districts and roads fan out into farmland.
The Collegiate Church of Sainte-Gertrude is one of the largest Romanesque churches in Belgium, with a long nave and a massive westwork. On its tower stands Jean de Nivelles, a mechanical bell-striking figure who has become a local symbol. The town is also known for tarte al djote, a savoury tart made with cheese and chard.
A Nivelles map poster makes a tidy composition: a rounded centre bounded by boulevards, the large church footprint in the middle, and a looser surrounding fabric crossed by main roads and the railway. It reads clearly at every size and has the balanced look of a traditional European town plan.

Collegiate church block
Sainte-Gertrude's long footprint sits at the centre of town. Its size stands out against the smaller blocks around it and anchors the whole street pattern.
Grand-Place
Beside the church, the main square opens up the dense centre. Several streets meet here, which makes it the natural focal point of the old town.
