Nyahuka is in Bundibugyo District, in far western Uganda, where the Rwenzori Mountains descend into the Semuliki valley. The town sits on the lower slopes and the valley floor, a short distance from the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The land is green and wet, and cocoa, bananas and other crops are grown on small farms throughout.
The map shows a small trading centre gathered along the main road. Short lanes lead off it, and houses and plots spread out between them. On the uphill side, streams run down from the mountains in steep, narrow valleys. Downhill, the ground flattens toward the Semuliki lowlands and the forests of Semuliki National Park, one of Uganda's lowland forest reserves.

Streams descend from the Rwenzori foothills in thin, closely spaced lines. They add movement to the map on its uphill side.
