Paung Map Poster & Print
Paung lies in Mon State in southern Myanmar, on the low coastal plain north of Mawlamyine, not far from the mouth of the Thanlwin River and the Gulf of Martaban. From above, the town is a modest cluster of streets along the main road. Around it lies wide, flat land divided into rice fields and crossed by creeks draining toward the sea.
Water and the monsoon shape the landscape. Fields flood and dry through the year, and small waterways wind across the plain. Low hills rise inland, and villages sit along the roads and streams at regular intervals. The main highway between Mon State and Yangon passes through the area and forms the backbone of the region.
A Paung map poster reduces this landscape to its essential lines: the road, the streams, the pattern of fields and the compact town at their centre. It is a meaningful piece for Mon families at home and abroad, for people from the township working in Thailand or elsewhere, and for anyone with memories of this coast.

Creeks and channels
Small winding waterways cross the flat plain toward the gulf, adding soft curves to a landscape otherwise divided by straight field boundaries.
Rice plain
Broad paddy fields surround the town. Their edges form a fine geometric texture that fills much of the map beyond the built-up area.
