Pordenone Map Poster & Print
Pordenone stands on the Friulian plain between the Alps and the Adriatic, on the small Noncello River, which was once navigable and made the town a river port. Its historic core is built along Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, a long, gently curving street lined with arcades and painted palazzi. On the map it reads as a clear spine through the old town.
The Renaissance painter Giovanni Antonio de' Sacchis, known simply as Il Pordenone, took his name from the town, and his work can be seen in the cathedral of San Marco. In the twentieth century Pordenone became an industrial centre known for household appliances, and the modern town has grown well beyond its old limits across the surrounding plain.
A Pordenone map poster shows how a small medieval core sits inside a wider modern town. The curve of the Corso, the Noncello with its green banks and the regular streets of the newer districts on the plain combine into a composition that is detailed yet calm, well suited to a restrained monochrome print.

Noncello River
The river that once made Pordenone a port curves along the edge of the old town. Its banks are lined with strips of green that soften the map.
Plain around the town
Newer neighbourhoods and industrial areas extend across the flat Friulian plain in wider, more regular patterns than the narrow historic streets.
