Sedeh Lanjān is in the Lenjan area of Isfahan province, southwest of the provincial capital. The Zayandeh River runs through this district, and from above it forms a strip of cultivated land within an otherwise arid plateau. The town is a tight cluster of streets and courtyard-scale blocks, with fields and orchards pressing close on every side.
Lenjan has traditionally been a farming district. The river's water supports orchards and paddy fields that are unusual in central Iran. On a map this appears as a quilt of small plots crossed by irrigation channels and farm tracks, with the built-up area of the town set in the middle.
