Foothill setting
The town sits where the Zagros foothills meet more open plains, so the edges of the map shift from dense streets to wide, sparsely marked land.

Shūrash Map Poster & Print
Shūrash is in Sulaymaniyah Governorate in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It sits in the transition zone where the Zagros foothills soften into the plains that run west toward Kirkuk. From above, the settlement is a tight cluster of streets and low-rise blocks, surrounded by broad farmland and dry, gently folded hills.
The map works through contrast rather than complexity. Main roads cut straight lines through the countryside, while the local streets form a denser weave where most daily life happens. Ridges running northwest to southeast, typical of this part of the Zagros belt, frame the horizon and give the surrounding land a subtle direction.
A Shūrash map poster is an unusual and personal object: a place that rarely appears on printed maps, drawn with the same care as a capital. For families with roots in the Sulaymaniyah region, or anyone living far from it, the linework is a quiet, specific reminder of home.

Road corridor
Straight regional roads cross the frame and link the settlement to larger cities. Their strong lines anchor the smaller street pattern.
Folded ridges
Low ridges in this part of Kurdistan run in long parallel bands from northwest to southeast, giving the land around the town a clear direction.
