The Zambezi
The river is the broadest feature in the frame. It appears as a pale band with islands and sandbars that give the map its texture and its sense of scale.

Tete Map Poster & Print
Tete grew on the south bank of the Zambezi, on one of the widest stretches of the river in Mozambique's interior. On a map the water dominates everything. It crosses the frame as a broad band, with sandbanks and channels that shift with the seasons. The town's streets climb gently from the riverside in an irregular grid that thins into scattered settlements and dry hills toward the edges.
The Samora Machel Bridge, a suspension bridge opened in the early 1970s, was for decades the main road crossing here. A second bridge was added in the 2010s, and together they draw the clearest straight lines on the map. Tete is old by regional standards: the Portuguese set up a trading post here in the sixteenth century, one of their earliest footholds along the Zambezi.
The region is known for its heat and for the coal deposits around Moatize, across the river, which have made Tete an important mining and transport centre. A Tete map poster turns this landscape into something quiet and graphic: a wide river, the lines of its bridges and the town gathered along one bank.

Samora Machel Bridge
The suspension bridge draws a single thin line across the water. It links the town with roads that lead north toward Malawi and Zambia.
Riverside town grid
Tete's older streets run parallel to the bank, then break into a looser pattern of blocks and tracks as the town climbs away from the water onto drier ground.

For anyone who has lived or worked in Tete, the Zambezi and its bridges are the shape of the place. A poster keeps that shape in view long after you leave. Add a title, a subtitle such as the year you arrived, and coordinates to mark the exact spot.
There are five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint and Sand echo the water and the warm earth. Get a free 900 px preview first, then download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster on matte paper.
