Organic lanes
Streets follow the edges of compounds rather than a planned grid, producing an irregular, hand-drawn pattern that looks distinctive when rendered as fine lines.

Umm Shawkah Map Poster & Print
Umm Shawkah is a town in Sennar State in east-central Sudan, a region of flat, dark clay plains that stretch toward the Blue Nile. From above, the landscape is dominated by open ground, with the settlement forming a cluster of compounds and unpaved lanes rather than a formal street grid.
A Umm Shawkah map poster captures that particular texture: irregular blocks shaped around household enclosures, a few more defined roads leading out of town, and tracks crossing the surrounding land. The simplicity of the plan is its strength in black and white, with the town reading as a loose web set in a large, quiet space.
Sennar State has long been one of Sudan's agricultural areas, and much of the land around its towns is used for rain-fed and irrigated farming. The rhythms of planting and harvest shape daily life here, and the region's towns are linked by roads running across the plain toward larger centres such as Sennar and Singa.

Open plain
The town sits in wide, level country, so the map shows the settlement as a defined shape surrounded by generous empty space, which suits a minimalist print.
Connecting tracks
Roads and tracks leave the settlement in several directions, tying it to neighbouring villages and the agricultural land that surrounds it.
