Zigon lies in Bago Region in southern Myanmar, in the broad lowland between the Bago Yoma hills and the Ayeyarwady valley. The surrounding landscape is agricultural, and on a map the town sits among a patchwork of paddy fields divided by embankments and small waterways.
Like many towns in this part of the country, Zigon developed along a main transport corridor connecting Yangon with the north. The road and railway run through the town as long, parallel lines, and most streets form short grids on either side of them.
