Martinez Map Poster & Print
Martinez sits on the southern shore of the Carquinez Strait, where the waters of the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers narrow on their way to San Francisco Bay. The historic downtown occupies a small grid of blocks near the water, hemmed in by the railway along the shore and by the steep hills rising immediately behind. Newer neighbourhoods spread south through the valleys.
Martinez is the county seat of Contra Costa County and has a few well-known claims. The naturalist John Muir lived here for many years, and his house is now a national historic site. The town also claims to be the birthplace of the martini, and the baseball player Joe DiMaggio was born here. The Benicia-Martinez Bridge crosses the strait just to the east.
A Martinez map poster shows the shoreline and marshes, the rail line and bridges, the compact old downtown and the suburban streets threading into the hills. It is a map of a place defined by its edges, water on one side and ridgeline on the other, and it makes a detailed, well-balanced print.

Old downtown grid
The historic centre forms a tight rectangle of streets near the waterfront, including the county courthouse and the Amtrak station, a small, dense core within the larger city.
Bridges to Benicia
The Benicia-Martinez road and rail bridges cross the strait just east of downtown, strong parallel lines that tie Martinez to the northern shore.

Miks Martinez
Kaart, millel on tähendus
Martinez has a strong local identity, shaped by its waterfront, its history and the hills around it. A map poster suits long-time residents, anyone who has worked at the county offices, or friends of the town who want something more personal than a postcard.
Add your own title and subtitle, a date such as a wedding by the water, and a coordinates line. The poster comes in five styles, Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, and can be ordered as an HD file or a printed poster.
